What a jam packed year Kidsgrove Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps have had.  A tour of the East coast of America for the Senior Corps in August, British Champions for both the Junior and Senior Corps last month (a title now held for three years in a row) and now a trip over to Northern Europe to compete in the European Championships.

This was the first time the Junior class had been invited to compete in Europe against other Junior Corps from Ireland, France and Holland.  Kidsgrove Scouts Juniors are the first British Corps to ever compete in the European Junior Class Finals and did well reaching 6th place with a score of 66.30   The seniors took to the field during a torrential down pour of rain and came 2nd with a score of 85.60 with two standing ovations throughout their show, based on the ancient world of Eygpt.

All competitors and supporters had a wonderful trip and the supporters back home followed the event with the online webcast.

Music in Motion

Music in Motion is a local show of modern marching bands competing against each other in Stoke on Trent.

These competitions take place all across the world from England, to France, Japan and America.

The modern marching bands are a musical, educational activity that challenges it’s performers to the highest level.  Marching in fast paced formations to complex musical arrangements these performers play percussion and brass instruments whilst on the move and quite often moving at a very fast pace.  The colour guard section performs intricate, choreographed skills with rifles, sabres and flags on six foot poles.

A selection of music is played which may be familiar, but however you may have heard this music before, non will have placed the extraordinary physical demands upon a performer than that of Drum Corps.

Please join us at Northwood Stadium on the 15th July 2012 for an afternoon of entertainment.

The Championship and International winners, Kidsgrove Scouts and Kidsgrove Scouts Juniors (from Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent) will be performing ahead of their tour to Holland and the USA.
