It is with great sorrow that we say goodnight to our dear friend, Ann Morgan who passed away on Monday 29th July. Ann was a very active member of our fund raising team for over 25 years and helped form our first Beaver section, where she was appointed Beaver Leader.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with her husband Jim, her children, Karen and Nigel and their families.
Congratulations to members of our leadership team who received long service awards tonight. Awards were presented for five years service, two awards for fifteen years service and a special commendation for Good Service was awarded to Akela, Ken Finney. Two Cub Scouts were also presented with Silver Awards.
All at Kidsgrove Scouts are very proud of you all. Well done!
Congratulations to Peter Smith on receiving the Silver Acorn Award in recognition of his outstanding service and contribution to Scouting.
Pete has served as member, leader, Group Scout Leader and Vice President of the 1st Kidsgrove Scout Group in addition to positions within District Scouting where he has also contributed a great deal.
The award was presented by David Fairbrother who said Pete’s legacy is the traditional Scouting values still used at Kidsgrove today, his legendary fundraising hikes, fabulous artwork and his outstanding contributions that have helped so many others.
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear friend, Allan Brown, who sadly passed away on Wednesday 3rd April 2013. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
The funeral service for our dear friend, will take place on Monday 15th April at 11:20am Bradwell Crematorium and afterwards at Kidsgrove Scout HQ (12:30noon) for a Commemoration of Allan’s life.
It’s that time of year when all of our sections start to camp under canvas again and so we strongly advise all of our members to take a few moments to check all of their equipment.
If you need to replace an item it is often more cost effective to purchase a good quality item.
Camping under canvas can still feel cold during the night and a good quality sleeping bag is essential. Sometimes lower priced sleeping bags are not suitable for outdoor camping. Please take time to check the bags ratings and seek advice if you have any queries. Roll mats are also an essential item to keep you warm as they offer protection from the cold ground.
Waterproofs are definitely needed in our climate, so please check they still fit!
Don’t forget we have a small selection of pre-owned uniforms and equipment if you are looking for replacements.
